I have been learning about what you do if the numerator is bigger than the denominator. I learnt that you either just leave it or you put how many wholes there are in front of the fraction.

X-Zone great Escapes

X-Zone Great Escapes

Image result for x-zone great escapes book
I think this book is stimulating because I learnt what a Colditz prisoner of war thinks a home run is (a successful escape from a prison). I think it is for 7-15 year olds and it is about lots of escapes throughout history by famous people. The book focuses on escaping from places or oppression (where people are treated cruelly or are prevented from having the same freedom as others). It has brief snippets about the escapees, which makes it easy to read and fast moving. The book is factual with lots of maps, newspaper clippings and photos. I think these images help to explain the situation the escapees were in. I like how it has a quiz at the end to test if you have got the facts. It makes me want to know more about the stories and people in them. It is by David Harris and is illustrated by Lenny Pelling. It is part of the X.Zone series.

Dog Man

Dog Man

This is one of my favorite books. I think that it is for 6-11 year olds . It is about a man with a dog head and human body. He has an arch enemy which is a cat, who tries to eliminate him by inventing a giant vacuum cleaner that he gets chased by. The cat has lots of evil plots to bring Dog Man down.

This book is a graphic novel, very humorous and action packed. I liked that it was hilarious with lots of fantastic twists. It is written and illustrated by Dav Pilkey, who also wrote the "Captain Underpants" series. The book has a "How to draw the characters" part at the back which is interesting.

Tom Gates Yes No Maybe

This is a fantastic book about a 10 year old boy named Tom Gates, who likes to doodle (draw). He is a normal boy and the story centers on his daily life, set in the present age. Each book in the series has his older sister, named Delia, who does mean stuff to him, like eating the last of his favourite breakfast cereal deliberately. He has lots of school friends including Derek, who lives next door. He also has a nemesis called Marcus. It is mostly set in his home or at school.

I really enjoyed reading it because it is hilarious and has lots of doodle-like pictures. I find it surprising how much trouble he gets into. I think it is for 7-15 year old's. Tom Gates books are a bit like Diary of a Wimpy Kid. It is fictional and a series. It is written and illustrated by L. Pichon.

speech reflection

Speech

This week and last week my class has been doing speeches. I think all of the speeches have been fantastic. I think I did really well. When I was doing my speech I felt nervous when I went up but once I got into it I didn't feel so bad. Here is my speech slide (the bullet points might not make sense).
